I’m a copywriter because I believe in the power of words
However, I didn’t start out self-employed and writing for a living. Before becoming a freelance copywriter in 2009, I worked in sales, internal communications, and marketing. In addition, I’m also a director of a growing broadcast technology firm.
Together, this varied corporate experience brings extra depth to my copywriting services. It also gives me a lot of empathy for my clients and the challenges they face.
Let me take you back.
Back in 2002 when I left university, I had no idea what my career would be. Basically, I knew I wanted to be creative, but my degree had also ignited an interest in the commercial world and how business works. Most of all, I wanted my work to involve words.
Together, these interests guided me into an early career in sales and marketing for professional services firms. My roles were dynamic and varied, but I realised what I really wanted to do was become a freelance copywriter. So, this is exactly what I decided to do.
I’ve been freelance copywriting since 2009. In particular, I focus on website content and writing for digital media.

There’s more to me than being a copywriter
In brief, I live near Birmingham with my husband Mike (a talented freelance television camera operator/supervisor), and our two daughters.
Outside of work, I love running, dabble with yoga, and can be a bit of a nutrition nerd.
But more likely, if I’m not at my desk, then I’m in mummy mode. Usually, this involves chasing my little people around a park, or watching them at swimming or ballet lessons. Less often (but as regularly as we can), we’ll be at our holiday cottage in Cornwall enjoying some sea air. And occasionally we’ll be snowboarding in the Alps.
Most importantly, if you’re putting on the kettle, I’ll always say yes to a cup of tea (white no sugar). And if you’re opening a bottle of wine, get me a glass.
